Our Beliefs

Statement of Faith

We believe that the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament and the twenty-seven books of the New Testament are the completed Word of God, and that they are fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that they are the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three distinct Persons; but always remaining one in both divine essence and purpose.

We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully Man. We believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and substitutionary atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal, bodily return in power and glory.

We believe in the Holy Spirit who was sent forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells and seals every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide, enabling Christians to live a godly life.

We believe that all people are sinners both by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior have their sins forgiven, are given eternal life, and are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus, living blameless before the world for the glory of God and the well-being of all people, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, service, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary tasks of seeking to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ and offering the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. We believe that the “sign gifts” have ceased as church practice, though we joyfully admit that God does still perform miracle for the benefit of his people.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed to the local church the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the total immersion of a believer in water into the name of the Triune God and also that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We further believe that these two ordinances should be regularly observed and administered until Christ returns.

We believe that God established marriage to be a life- long covenant relationship between one man and one woman. As such, the family is the basic building block of society.

We believe that every Christian has a direct, personal, faith relationship with God; that each local church is autonomous and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; and that the Church and State must be kept separate.

We believe in a personal, visible, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are lost to the resurrection of damnation.

Gender and Sexuality
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female at conception, and this is established biologically on the chromosomal level. These two distinct, complementary God-ordained genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Hampshire View Baptist Church affirms that one’s gender is a gift from God and is immutable from conception. Therefore, those who participate in our church programs, services, activities, and events that are gender specific, such as ladies’ groups, or men’s groups, including gender specific children and adolescent programs, are to participate on the basis of their biological and chromosomal gender assigned by God’s wisdom at conception. This includes the use of restrooms and any other gender designated areas. We further ask individuals to not promote, advocate or advance positions contrary to, or undermining of, this gender policy.

As our culture struggles to come to grips with morphing definitions of sexuality and gender identity, we want to respond to any confusion on this issue definitively and in a manner consistent with our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to us “full of grace and truth”.
We welcome any who desire to learn more about the life changing gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ regardless of their current struggles and/or opinions. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake sin, seeking his mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Marriage Policy
We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that union. Because God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and Himself, Hampshire View Baptist Church only recognize marriages between a biological man and a biological woman. The Pastor and staff of Hampshire View Baptist Church, therefore, shall only participate in weddings and solemnize marriages between one man and one woman. Furthermore, the facilities and property of Hampshire View Baptist Church shall only host weddings between one man and one woman.

The Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Psalms 139). We believe that every person needs compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. This is true of those who differ in their convictions as well as for those who hold to these same convictions. It is our belief and practice that the best course of action for Hampshire View Baptist Church is to adhere to the timeless and transformative standard of the Bible in all matters of lifestyle and faith.
